Perception Capturing
The crit presentation next week has to tell the story so far.  Treat this as serious crit with critical reflections and make sure the [1] questions + [2] way forward are articulated. Each group will have 60 minutes to tell their story.  Below are some things to assist in the structure.
A) Objective/ Outcome of the study:

B) Outcomes/ Goals of the study:
  • To understand the stakeholders and users, their behavioural patterns and needs of the parks* and beyond and to draw conclusion for the project
    • Special attention to weak and vulnerable users (children, old people, women, homeless, poor, rich, (im)migrants), office worker + . . .
  • To understand the physical fabric of the parks and beyond and to draw conclusion for the project
    • This should also include the land uses

  • Stakeholder mapping and assessment
  • Public space and parks map of larger context (Entire Inner City of Joburg including interpretational information)
  • Map of ongoing and future plans and projects in the inner city
  • Detailed public spaces and parks space map of direct vicinity (inspired by Nolli Map)
    • Map layers: of landuses and groundfloor uses, green, circulation, problem spots, crime spots, opportunity spots etc.

  * because End Street Park North is closed at the moment, adjacent parks and public spaces need to be included. It might be worth your while to ask Iyer Architects what their intention is:  http://www.iyer.co.za/portfolio/jhb-iccl/
